Role overview
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Product Owner for its Bangalore, IN location to join a global organization with offices in Houston, San Jose (CA), Västerås (Sweden), and Krakow (Poland). Under limited direction, the role involves performing complex assignments requiring diversified knowledge in software development and engineering to cost-effectively accomplish organizational goals. The position focuses on proactively improving quality and increasing customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring clarity and alignment with the 'definition of done' criteria.
- Act as the voice of the customer within Agile teams, collaborating closely with Scrum Masters, developers, and stakeholders to deliver incremental value through iterative development cycles.
- Work closely with R&D, engineering, product management, and customers to gather requirements, define features, and ensure successful delivery.
- Foster a culture of reflection, retrospection, and incremental improvement within the team.
- Design, develop, review, re-factor, and maintain software with quality and performance in mind.
- Collaborate on planning, development, and testing to meet 'definition of done' criteria, proactively identifying issues and working across teams to resolve problems.
- Identify and manage risks for schedule and quality with the team and ask for help when needed.
- Try new things. Fail fast when needed. Help others learn from mistakes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements
- Master’s/PhD in Power System or related engineering stream.
- A total of 10 years of experience with a minimum of 4 years as a Product Owner in software development, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge and experience working with power system modeling and simulation, analysis and operation, optimization, and numerical analysis methodology.
- Demonstrated experience working in Agile development environments (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), including backlog management, sprint planning, and iterative delivery.
- Proficiency/experience with programming languages: C#, C/C++, MATLAB, Java, Python, FORTRAN.
- Experience with Linux and Windows development environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information to and gather information from peers, product management, project team, sales, customers, management, and other stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with analytical tools such as Load Flow, Contingency Analysis, State Estimation, AGC, Economic Dispatch, and Power Systems Simulators.
- Solid theoretical background in Numerical Analysis Methods, Optimization Techniques, and Power System Modeling and Operation.
- Experience in model prototyping through the use of optimization toolkits or machine learning/AI packages.
- Hands-on experience with SCADA Energy Management System (EMS) Applications: Generation Control, Network Analysis, Operator Training Simulator.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
