Key highlights
- Internship role for final-year students or recent graduates
- No prior professional deployment experience required
- Global work environment
- Internal promotion system for career growth
- Exposure to Versa SD-WAN and edge computing
- Ability to choose between office or field work environments
Role overview
This internship program is designed for students or recent graduates to work alongside a senior engineer on live implementation activities. Interns will assist with configuration, testing, and deployment processes while learning the fundamentals of network routing, switching, and security in an environment that does not assume prior professional deployment experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers during customer deployments of edge computing infrastructure, cloud integration, and SD-WAN platforms.
- Support end-to-end implementation activities — architecture walkthroughs, configuration, testing, and go-live — under the direction of a senior engineer.
- Observe how project managers, systems engineers, and customer stakeholders align on design and timelines, and contribute where appropriate.
- Assist with troubleshooting deployment issues across operating systems, hypervisors, containers, and networks, always under supervision.
- Learn to write basic automation scripts and reusable tooling to support deployment consistency, guided by senior engineers.
- Help document procedures, configurations, and lessons learned, contributing to internal knowledge bases.
- Participate in internal enablement sessions and cross-functional collaboration.
- Observe customer workshops for large-scale or complex rollouts as a learning opportunity.
Requirements
- Final-year or recent Bachelor's student in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong academic record.
- Able to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your university confirming eligibility to participate in the program.
- Basic familiarity with Linux system administration and troubleshooting concepts.
- Coursework or foundational exposure to hypervisors (e.g., KVM, VMware) — Type 1 and Type 2 concepts.
- Introductory understanding of networking principles: routing, VLANs, firewalls, DNS, NAT, and routing protocols.
- Basic exposure to network interfaces (physical and virtual) through coursework or personal projects.
- Willingness to learn network diagnostic tools such as tcpdump, Wireshark, iptables, and netstat.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document clearly and ask good questions.
- Available to commit to the full internship period, working alongside the ENE team during standard business hours.
Nice to have
- Coursework or personal projects involving containerization technologies; exposure to lightweight Kubernetes distributions (e.g., K3s) is a plus.
- Any exposure to SD-WAN concepts; familiarity with Versa SD-WAN is a strong plus.
- Basic exposure to cloud service providers (Azure or AWS) — VM provisioning or datastore concepts through coursework or personal projects.
- Comfortable exploring REST APIs and tools like Postman, Swagger, curl, or Python scripts through coursework or self-directed learning.
- Coursework or self-study exposure to infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Bash scripting.
- Any exposure to edge orchestration platforms (e.g., Zededa, Azure IoT Edge, AWS Greengrass) is a bonus, not required.
Benefits
- Global presence: work with clients and colleagues all over the world, in every continent.
- Work with talented teammates who are the best and brightest in the industry.
- Exposure to industry leadership and advancements shaping the future of communications.
- Ability to develop skills by working across departments.
- Choose your environment: option between a traditional desk job or work in the field.
- Career growth through an internal promotion system.
- Work on diverse projects across a range of industries around the world.
