Responsibilities
- Full‑stack development with end‑to‑end ownership, emphasizing front‑end work.
- Solve large‑scale backend technical challenges.
- Identify and implement improvements to existing processes and systems.
- Seek opportunities to innovate and optimise the platform.
- Collaborate with the Product Owner and stakeholders to understand customer needs and deliver robust solutions.
- Provide operational support to customers when escalated by the Client Services team.
Requirements
- Passion for design and development of backend software and APIs.
- Front‑end development experience with React, Angular or Vue.
- Object‑oriented programming using a language such as Ruby.
- Software development within a Linux/Unix environment.
- Experience with containerisation platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices (team focus, continual improvement, automated tests, refactoring, continuous integration, pair programming).
- Effective communication skills.
- Self‑motivation and self‑management.
- Commitment to lifelong learning.
- Minimum of 4 + years of software development experience.
- Minimum of 2 + years supporting a large‑scale application in an operational capacity.
- Ability to demonstrate a track record of writing quality backend software (BSc advantageous but not required).
Nice to have
- BSc majoring in Computer Science (advantageous).
- Ability to think like a hacker and dive into security details of the software you’ve built.
- Experience with Rancher, Docker Swarm or other container‑orchestration platforms.
- Understanding of database design and performance tuning (MySQL, Redis, etc.).
- Experience with DevOps on a Linux‑based platform.
- Experience with system administration on a Linux‑based platform.
