Role overview
BJAK, founded in 2019, is a leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia with a mission to help people plan, save, and grow their money through smarter financial solutions. The company is expanding into spending, saving, investing, and more, and is seeking talented, driven backend engineers to build the core systems behind its AI Finance Agent. The role involves creating scalable, reliable APIs, workflows, and financial product infrastructure to serve millions of users across multiple markets and partners. The ideal candidate is passionate about building next-generation financial products, works collaboratively with global teams, and thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Responsibilities
- Build backend services, APIs and workflows for the AI Neobank app.
- Support products across insurance, payments, wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services.
- Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations.
- Work with product and mobile teams to ship customer-facing journeys quickly.
- Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and other partners.
- Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance.
- Build systems that are practical, auditable and ready for regulated financial products.
Requirements
- 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging.
- Experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems.
- Good understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases.
- Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk.
- Comfortable working with product, mobile, operations and business teams.
- Strong English communication is required.
- Candidates must be based in India.
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage.

- Location: This role is remote, but candidates must be based in India. We are hiring specifically for this market, so applicants should already be based in India.
