Role overview
Fam (previously FamPay) is India’s first payments app for users above 11, enabling online and offline payments via UPI and FamCard. The company aims to foster financial awareness among the next generation, targeting 250 million+ young users in India. Fam is reimagining fintech by blending money, identity, and everyday experiences into a seamless journey. Founded in 2019 by IIT Roorkee alumni, Fam is backed by investors like Elevation Capital, Y-Combinator, Peak XV (Sequoia Capital) India, Venture Highway, Global Founder’s Capital, and angel investors such as Kunal Shah and Amrish Rao. We are seeking a strong software engineer with an infrastructure mindset to build reusable platform services and engineering primitives that power product development across the company. This role focuses on designing foundational capabilities like rate limiting, distributed locking, configuration management, feature flags, and service discovery, enabling multiple engineering teams to adopt shared platform services. This is not a traditional DevOps or operations role but rather a position centered on building robust, scalable, and extensible platform abstractions to help engineers move faster and build reliable products.
Responsibilities
- Build reusable platform services and engineering primitives that power product development across the company
- Design and build foundational capabilities such as rate limiting, distributed locking, configuration management, feature flags, service discovery, and other shared platform services
- Enable multiple engineering teams to adopt shared platform services
- Work on complex distributed systems problems
- Design clean APIs and libraries
- Ensure platform services can be confidently validated through thoughtful testing, failure simulation, and scalability verification
