Role overview
Hitachi Vantara, the data foundation trusted by global innovators, empowers businesses to automate, optimize, and innovate with resilient, high-performance data infrastructure. The Infrastructure Platform Solutions Engineering team is seeking a Python Full Stack Developer to work on key technical projects for the storage portfolio, initially focusing on VSP One Block Ansible Modules and Terraform Providers. This role involves close collaboration with other development projects, such as Plugins and partner product integration, within a diverse, global team driving real-world impact with data.
Responsibilities
- Requirement analysis, design, code, unit test and fix defects in a range of scenarios such as regular release cycles, prototypes, customer escalations and PoCs.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom Ansible modules and roles in Python to automate data center infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and storage operations.
- Write efficient Go code utilizing goroutines and channels to handle heavy traffic and concurrent tasks for storage centric products. Efficiently leveraging AI tools in a responsible manner.
- Collaborate with Go developers on Terraform provider development; contribute to provider testing, validation, and documentation.
- Own existing automation feature sets and continually expand capabilities to support new product requirements and customer use cases.
- Interface with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to store and manipulate data efficiently.
- Liaise with development, test, and solutions engineering groups to isolate performance bottlenecks and resolve technical issues encountered by internal teams and customers.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing code for speed and scalability.
- Working closely with PM, PO, and product development teams to identify and improve product functionalities and capabilities.
- Agile Development practices and execution.
- Working with and as needed managing containerized applications. Deploying them using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (IT/ Computer Science or equivalent)
- Python object-oriented software product developer with 5 years of experience. Must have a strong history of multi-threading, locking, and caching. Inclusive of its Frameworks (Django/FastAPI/Flask).
- Experience in managing SQL and Non-SQL Databases like MSSQL/PostgreSQL/MongoDB (MSSQL a must)
- Be familiar with LINUX systems, JSON format processing, and Selenium.
- Hands-on experience with UI technologies like Angular and JavaScript.
- Good knowledge of Project Setup with GIT, IIS, and Jenkins.
- Must have hands-on experience authoring custom Ansible modules in Python, including module argument specs, Ansible module usage, error handling, idempotency design, and integration with Ansible collections.
- Experience packaging and publishing Ansible Collections to Ansible Galaxy or a private automation hub.
- Must have experience developing and consuming Terraform modules; familiarity with Terraform state management, resource lifecycle, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Go programming with 5 years of experience. Must have a strong history of go routine concurrency, channels, mutexes, context propagation, and access control.
- Must have hands-on experience authoring Terraform providers in Go using the Terraform Plugin SDK v2 or Plugin Framework, including resource and data source implementation, schema design, state management, and acceptance testing.
- Experience publishing and maintaining internal and public Github libraries.
- Experience publishing and maintaining providers in the Terraform Registry.
- Experience with at least one top cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Minimum of 5 years on Linux, including shell scripting, and CI/CD pipeline development.
- Excellent writing and documentation skills in creating test procedures, workflows, diagrams, and user guides.
- Great verbal communication (including presentations and providing technical training).
- A team player and fast technology adoption is a must.

Nice to have
- SAN storage experience — familiarity with Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NVMe-oF, and storage array management APIs (e.g., Hitachi VSP/VSP One, NetApp, Pure Storage (Everpure), HPE).
