Role overview
Akamai is seeking a Cloud Operations Architect to join its global Managed Cloud Operations Team. The role focuses on simplifying cloud operations by accelerating innovation through simpler, scalable, accessible, and affordable computing solutions. The position involves managing monitoring and infrastructure for Cloud and Compute customers, collaborating across engineering, product, and sales teams, and guiding front-line staff while contributing to expertise growth through training and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
- Aligning customer needs with cloud solutions and infrastructure management
- Solving complex cloud and compute issues proactively for customers on Akamai Connected cloud
- Developing operational support cadences and workflows as part of the Global Cloud Operations team
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve challenges, identify deficiencies, and assess the stability of customer cloud workflows
- Guiding and mentoring the front-line team with technical guidance to ensure top-quality customer resolutions
- Contributing to the growth of cloud and compute expertise through training, tech talks, and knowledge base articles
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience supporting and orchestrating the public cloud, serverless platforms, and microservices
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Good understanding of cloud concepts with problem-solving skills in virtual machines, Kubernetes, networking, security, storage, and databases
- Expertise in networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, VPNs, CDN, and load balancing
- Knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and observability
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for effective fast-paced, customer-facing work
