The company is currently hiring a Backend Engineer to join its team, with the role focused on solving challenging problems in backend application development, algorithms, system design, and production operations.
Responsibilities
- Work on challenging problems in backend application development, algorithms, system design, and production operations.
- Design abstractions that minimize custom code to accommodate differences across individual businesses.
- Manage and make sense of data scattered across multiple systems and a large number of moving parts.
- Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definitions, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
- Take accountability for the quality, total cost of ownership, maintainability, and security of all developed components.
- Review code written by other developers and provide feedback to ensure adherence to best practices including style guidelines, code check-in accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Seek out opportunities for innovation that can be shared across multiple teams, with a willingness to experiment and boldly address problems of large complexity and scope.
- As an early team member, help shape the company’s culture, engineering practices, and product.
- Work with a cutting-edge tech stack including Java, Spring, Hibernate, Redis, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and AWS.
Requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and passion for the craft of building software.
- Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
