The company is currently hiring a Backend Engineer to join its team, with the role focused on solving challenging problems in backend application development, algorithms, system design, and production operations.

Responsibilities

Work on challenging problems in backend application development, algorithms, system design, and production operations.
Design abstractions that minimize custom code to accommodate differences across individual businesses.
Manage and make sense of data scattered across multiple systems and a large number of moving parts.
Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definitions, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
Take accountability for the quality, total cost of ownership, maintainability, and security of all developed components.
Review code written by other developers and provide feedback to ensure adherence to best practices including style guidelines, code check-in accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Seek out opportunities for innovation that can be shared across multiple teams, with a willingness to experiment and boldly address problems of large complexity and scope.
As an early team member, help shape the company’s culture, engineering practices, and product.
Work with a cutting-edge tech stack including Java, Spring, Hibernate, Redis, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, and AWS.

Requirements

Strong problem-solving skills and passion for the craft of building software.
Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems.
Minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience.

Excellent communication skills.
