Role overview
TechBiz Global is providing recruitment services to TOP clients in their portfolio. They are seeking a dedicated Technical Support Engineer / Linux Systems Administrator to join one of their clients' teams. The role offers an exciting opportunity to grow in an innovative environment. The position involves hands-on administration and maintenance of Linux systems, virtualized/containerized environments, web hosting control panels, and various server technologies. The engineer will work closely with technical teams to support infrastructure, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to performance tuning and reliability projects.
Responsibilities
- Work within the technical team to administer and maintain GNU/Linux operating systems and virtualized/containerized environments (OpenVZ, KVM, Docker, etc)
- Participate in the deployment, management, and troubleshooting of industry-standard control panels (like cPanel/WHM, Plesk) within shared hosting environments
- Troubleshoot and optimize web applications built on common web technologies, frameworks and CMS platforms (WordPress, Laravel, etc.)
- Assist clients and resolve complex issues related to PHP, with knowledge of Node.js and Python stacks considered a strong plus
- Help configure and maintain network protocols, firewalls, and WAFs (ModSecurity, Imunify360)
- Work with the team to identify, respond to, and mitigate security incidents (malware, phishing, DoS, etc)
- Troubleshoot mail flow and deliverability issues, you are already familiar with Exim, Dovecot, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and the use of external mail relays
- Contribute to routine service monitoring and execute performance tuning across Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, and database engines (mainly MySQL/MariaDB, and rarely PostgreSQL and Redis)
- Support infrastructure projects, including migration of hosting accounts, VMs, and mail systems
- Assist in testing and implementing disaster recovery, backups, failovers, and caching/CDN strategies
Requirements
- Several years of hands-on experience in the web hosting industry in both technical support and system administration
- Advanced proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments (including IIS, MSSQL) for cross-platform support cases
- Deep understanding of the cPanel/WHM ecosystem, CloudLinux (LVE, CageFS, Selectors), PHP configuration, and typical shared hosting constraints and workarounds
- Proven expertise configuring, managing, and troubleshooting HTTP web servers (Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, etc)
- Strong grasp of web server mechanics, relational/NoSQL databases, and the ability to debug complex web apps at the server level
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and network protocols
- Strong ability to manage escalated support tickets and collaborate with peers to provide custom technical solutions for clients
Nice to have
- Proficiency in writing Bash scripts, Python utilities, and utilizing Ansible playbooks to help the team automate routine deployments and maintenance tasks
- Experience with WHMCS backend architecture and custom module integrations
- Familiarity with high-density enterprise server architectures and large-scale account consolidation workflows
- Professional fluency in English is highly advantageous for internal documentation and diverse client communication
