Role overview
Preqin, a part of BlackRock, plays a critical role in transforming private markets data, benchmarks, and analytics for clients globally. The Benchmarks & Indices team is responsible for developing and scaling benchmark and index capabilities across private equity, private credit, real assets, and hedge funds. This role, as the MD, Global Head of Derived Data, is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and operating model for one of Preqin's most strategic data franchises, driving data quality, and partnering with Product, Technology, and Client teams to deliver market-leading data solutions. The role also includes leadership of the BlackRock Bangalore office, with responsibility for site leadership and organizational capability building.
Responsibilities
- Set and execute the global strategy for Client & Benchmarks Data, aligned to BlackRock's private markets and technology priorities
- Define the long-term vision for client intelligence, benchmark data, and analytics capabilities
- Provide executive oversight of data quality, governance, coverage, and scalability
- Lead and manage leaders, develop a global organization, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and client focus
- Partner with Product, Technology, Index services teams to drive client value, adoption, and growth
- Champion data modernization, AI-enabled capabilities, and operational excellence to improve efficiency and scale
- Represent the organization in executive forums, strategic initiatives, and key client engagements
- Ensure strong risk management, governance, and controls appropriate for a global institutional data business
- Develop and execute talent strategies, cultivate future leaders, and act as a visible ambassador of the firm's culture and leadership principles
- Serve as Head of the BlackRock Bangalore office, responsible for site leadership and organizational capability building
- Apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and embrace curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies while challenging outcomes
Requirements
- 20+ years of experience in financial data, private markets, benchmarks, analytics, or related data businesses
- Proven track record leading large-scale global data organizations and senior leadership teams
- Deep understanding of private markets, institutional investors, and data-driven products
- Strong strategic, commercial, and operational leadership capabilities
- Experience partnering across Product, Technology, Client, and Commercial functions, leading change and driving positive outcomes through transformation and innovation
- Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor's degree required
