The Backend Staff Engineer (Node.js) at Yassir is a senior technical leadership role dedicated to the company's consumer domain. Core responsibilities include defining and driving backend technical standards across multiple squads, leading engineering teams through tech roadmap development, core architecture decisions, and feature release cycles, while mentoring junior developers and supporting the scaling of backend engineering talent across the organization. The role also owns end-to-end projects, conducts technical interviews for hiring, and works to continuously improve engineering standards, tooling and processes to maximize team efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Drive technical standards for the Backend across the consumer domain, collaborating with multiple squads within the domain
- Lead Backend engineers in developing tech roadmaps, making architecture decisions, and managing feature development and release cycles
- Mentor junior developers
- Support the scaling of Backend engineering teams across multiple squads and conduct technical interviews to onboard top talent
- Design, build and maintain features for domain applications
- Provide technical leadership and manage cross-team dependencies
- Conduct design and code reviews
- Help domain team members resolve technical blockers and support their professional growth
- Continuously discover, evaluate and implement new technologies to maximize operational efficiency
- Participate in architecture and design discussions
- Contribute to building the domain technical roadmap
- Conduct technical interviews for backend hiring
- Help improve engineering standards, tooling and processes
- Own assigned end-to-end projects
- Perform feasibility studies to validate project capability and functionality
- Draft and submit intellectual property related to work output
- Research and assess current and emerging technologies
- Develop and execute complex, multi-tier distributed software search applications
- Build and apply technical and domain expertise to products and problem-solving
- Assess, write and refactor code to improve or extend application functionality
- Manage and support existing live software applications
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members
Requirements
- At least 10 years of professional experience in backend engineering with Node.js
- Strong foundation in core programming fundamentals
- Excellent communication skills
- Enjoy solving problems and helping others meet their goals
- Solid understanding of X
- Substantial experience using Git in a team development environment
- Experience writing testable code and unit tests
- Deep knowledge of React and Node.js, with proven experience developing products using these technologies
- Experience using modern JavaScript and associated tooling in a full-stack setting
- Extensive experience with A/B testing experiments and a data-driven attitude toward product development
