Role overview
Akuity builds the Akuity Platform, an end‑to‑end GitOps SaaS solution that lets enterprises manage hundreds to thousands of Kubernetes clusters from a single control plane. The Staff Engineer will provide technical leadership, design, build, and continuously improve the SaaS platform, mentor engineers, and help shape the company’s technical culture.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and improve Akuity’s SaaS platform.
- Develop in Go on the server‑side.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to design, implement, and deliver features that remove the headaches of infrastructure operations for our users.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across complex, high‑impact projects and initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and help drive engineering best practices across the organization.
- Ensure the SaaS platform remains scalable and built with developer empathy as it rapidly grows.
- Work closely with engineers, designers, and product partners to solve complex developer and infrastructure challenges while driving technical direction and architectural decisions.
- Help shape the technical culture of the company.
Requirements
- 7+ years of development experience.
- 4+ years of experience developing scalable web applications using Golang.
- Experience building Kubernetes controllers or operators at scale in AWS, GCP, Azure, or on‑prem.
- Passion for working on complex technical products, particularly in the realm of SaaS, IaaS, PaaS.
- Deep knowledge of systems design, API design, and infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience leading the architecture and technical direction of complex, distributed systems.
- Experienced with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL).
- Genuine interest in designing a great end‑to‑end developer experience while using Akuity’s products.
- Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset with a passion for developer experience.
- Proven ability to influence technical decisions across teams and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Live within US time zones (Pacific through Eastern), including Canada and other regions.
Nice to have
- Experience with Argo CD, Kargo, or GitOps‑based delivery workflows.
- Familiarity with multi‑region, multi‑cluster Kubernetes deployments.
- Experience with compliance‑adjacent infrastructure (SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 28000:2022, HIPAA, or PCI DSS).
- Background operating infrastructure for other platform or developer tooling companies.
