Position Summary: As part of the GDX Management Team, your role involves leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing team of engineers. Working closely with eComm Product Management and key stakeholders throughout the US and Canada, you will spearhead the delivery of critical features. In this position as a strategic leader and corporate steward, you will be responsible for executing a vision that connects team outcomes with the overarching objectives of the Costco IT Division. Additionally, you will champion an environment built on trust, engagement, and open communication, all while driving strategic product expansion and ensuring operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Performance: Manage team performance, providing regular coaching, mentorship, and support for career development. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages diverse ideas and proactive employee input. Strategic Delivery & Operational Excellence: Lead the product delivery while meeting operational excellence OKRs. Maintain oversight of Agile methodology, system monitoring, and the management of incidents. Collaboration & Communication: Cultivate robust cross-functional partnerships with the US based GDX, Product Management, and Logistics teams to synchronize backlogs and provide superior experiences for our members. Financial & Risk Management: Manage the department budget and portfolio finances while maintaining 100% compliance with SOX controls and security standards. Job Duties/Essential Functions: Lead, coach, and mentor Software Engineers and Engineering Leads across one or more teams Drive talent strategy, including hiring, retention, and performance management Set clear expectations, goals, and development plans aligned with organizational priorities Guide architectural decisions and ensure alignment with enterprise standards and long-term strategy Drive adoption of modern engineering practices (CI/CD, DevOps, automation, AI-assisted development, etc.) Own production health, including incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation Partner with Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to define roadmaps and priorities in accordance with organizational OKRs Align engineering execution with business objectives and compliance requirements Ensure high system reliability and performance standards. Manage portfolio finances and oversee budget maintenance and administer SOX controls effectively. Experience, Skills, Education & Licenses/Certifications: Required: 10+ years of Software Engineering experience 5+ years’ experience managing Product Engineering teams. 3+ years’ experience developing and deploying enterprise cloud services and web-based applications. 10+ years’ experience working directly in an agile delivery environment with ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of agile delivery practices. Strong understanding of software architecture and system design Experience with modern development practices (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps) Experience with performance, scalability, and reliability engineering Possesses an executive presence, a high-level of professionalism, and a focused commitment to excellence. Familiarity with common development frameworks (i.e. Javascript, node.js, .Net, and PowerShell). Ability to efficiently manage and coordinate responses to critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business impact. Extremely responsive, with a strong sense of urgency. Able to support off hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities. Show more
