Role overview
The AI Deployment Engineering team at OpenAI ensures the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for developers and enterprises, acting as a trusted advisor to drive GenAI use cases from ideation to production. As an AI Deployment Engineer, you will partner with senior customer leaders to establish GenAI strategies, design enterprise architectures using OpenAI’s API and services, and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product) to deliver tangible business value. The role is based in Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore with a hybrid work model (3 days in-office per week) and offers relocation assistance.
Responsibilities
- Deeply embed with strategic platform customers as the technical lead, serving as their technical thought partner to ideate and build novel applications on OpenAI’s API
- Work with senior customer stakeholders to identify the best applications of GenAI in their industry and build/qualify a comprehensive backlog to support their AI roadmap
- Intervene directly to accelerate customer time to value through building hands-on prototypes and/or delivering impactful strategic guidance
- Forge and manage relationships with customers’ leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and scale of their applications
- Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources
- Scale the Solutions Architect function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing notebooks to internal and external repositories
- Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to the Product and Research teams
- Report to the Head of Technical Success, APAC
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product teams
Requirements
- 6+ years of technical consulting (or equivalent) experience, bridging technical teams and senior business stakeholders
- Effective and polished communicator who can translate business and technical topics to all audiences
- Led complex implementations of Generative AI/traditional ML solutions and have knowledge of network/cloud architecture
- Industry experience in programming languages like Python or Javascript
- Own problems end-to-end and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done
- Humble attitude, eagerness to help colleagues, and a desire to do whatever it takes to make the team succeed
- Effective, high-throughput operator who can drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize ruthlessly
