Role overview
SOUTHWORKS is looking for a Software Engineer to join their elite three-person Fireteam, working remotely across 11+ countries and 8+ time zones. The role involves writing code for some of the world's biggest brands, scale-ups, and industry future leaders on complex, high-profile projects. The company pioneered Development on Demand (nearshore development) and values self-directed work, continuous learning with new technologies, and collaboration with skilled professionals. Responsibilities
- Write code for some of the world's biggest brands, exciting scale-ups, and the industry's future leaders
- Work as part of an elite three-person Fireteam with other sharp, skilled coders
- Help customers solve their most vexing technical problems
- Build scalable architectures using managed services under categories: Storage, Compute, Integration, Analytics, Monitoring, Security, among others
- Build microservices (including Docker and Kubernetes)
- Build RESTful APIs
- Build data pipelines, workflows and visualizations (using Python, Pandas, Spark or Databricks)
- Work with other sharp, skilled coders
- Self-direct own work
- Perform team management tasks
- Mentor junior software engineers
Requirements
- Hands-on working experience on App Modernization and Native Cloud Development using AWS or Azure
- Experience building scalable architectures using managed cloud services
- Good technical skills and relevant experience on 2+ languages like C# (.NET), Python, and/or Java (using Spring/SpringBot)
- Hands-on experience building microservices (including Docker and Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs
- Hands-on work experience with unit testing frameworks and tools (must)
- Experience building data pipelines, workflows and visualizations (using Python, Pandas, Spark or Databricks)
- Implemented systems that are used in large cloud scale production environments
- Experience performing team management tasks
- Experience mentoring junior software engineers
- Computer science degree or relevant professional experience
- Familiar with community standards, code guidelines and design patterns, applying them to solve complex problems and recommend solutions
- Excellent command of English, both written and verbal
- 5+ years of experience in a similar position
- Ability to work remotely with SOUTHWORKS' bullet-proof remote-first process
- Willingness to work with clients and SOUTHIES across different time zones
