Role overview

Netrix Global is seeking a Network Engineer to maintain and administer computer networks for clients. The role involves ensuring network functionality, performing disaster recovery, and protecting data and hardware from attacks. The engineer will work closely with network users to identify and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer computer networks, hardware, software, and related systems.
  • Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups.
  • Protect data, software, and hardware by implementing network security measures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network and system problems.
  • Monitor network performance and make adjustments as needed.
  • Confer with network users to solve existing system problems.
  • Operate master consoles to monitor network and computer system performance.
  • Coordinate computer network access and use.
  • Provide detailed information for hardware and software selection.
  • Travel to client sites as needed, both locally and via air travel.
  • Work all shifts as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.

Nice to have

  • Certification level of CCNA route/switch or equivalent vendor preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus preferred.
  • Network security experience preferred.
