Sarvam AI

Key highlights

  • 1–3 years of experience required
  • High ownership and impact from day one
  • Work on AI-first problems with population-scale impact

Role overview

Sarvam is building India’s full-stack sovereign AI platform, focusing on research, models, infrastructure, and applications to make AI work for India. The DevRel Community role at Sarvam is a blend of engineering, content, and community management, with a primary focus on fostering a vibrant developer community. This role involves running the Discord community, designing and executing community programs (hackathons, meetups, workshops), and ensuring developers have a great experience while providing structured feedback to engineering and product teams based on community insights.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Discord community: moderation, onboarding flows, channel structure, engagement rituals, and maintaining channels by triaging questions and routing them to the right people
  • Design and run community programs — plan and execute hackathons, meetups, office hours, workshops, and campus outreach end to end: concept, logistics, promotion, on-the-ground execution, and follow-up
  • Recognise and grow the best builders — identify the most engaged developers and create structured ways to recognise them, give them a platform, and help them grow within the community
  • Grow the community — run initiatives that bring new developers in: partnerships with colleges and developer communities, collaborations with other devtool ecosystems, and community-led content
  • Be the voice of the community — synthesise what developers are saying into structured feedback for the engineering, product, and DevRel teams. Spot recurring friction points and champion fixes
  • Track what matters — monitor community health metrics (activity, retention, response times, program participation, NPS) and use them to decide what to double down on

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in community management, developer programs, or a related role — ideally in a devtools, developer platform, or open-source ecosystem
  • Experience building a community from the ground up — and scaling it. You've started something with a handful of members and grown it into a real, active community. You know what it takes at every stage, from the first ten people to the first ten thousand
  • Comfortable around developers and code. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should understand how developers work, be able to follow technical conversations, and know when a question needs an engineer's answer
  • An organiser at heart. Events, logistics, follow-ups, timelines — you enjoy running things end to end and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch
  • Write clearly and warmly. Announcements, Discord replies, program docs — your writing makes people feel welcome and informed
  • Move fast and follow through. You can take a loosely defined brief — 'run a hackathon next month' — and ship something polished without being hand-held
  • Genuinely community-minded. You find energy in helping other builders succeed, and you treat every interaction as a chance to learn what the community needs

Nice to have

  • Organised hackathons or large meetups
  • Run community programs at scale
  • Experience with community tooling (Discord bots, analytics)
  • Interest in AI and Indian languages

Benefits

  • Work alongside researchers, engineers, builders, and business leaders who move fast and hold each other to a very high bar
  • High ownership and high impact, from day one
  • Everything we do is AI-first, from the way we build and ship to the way we think about problems
  • Work on problems that could change how an entire country learns, works, and communicates
