Role overview

Canonical is looking for a content marketing lead who will develop and execute the company’s content strategy, manage a team of writers and strategists, and ensure high-quality, SEO‑optimized, brand‑aligned content across all channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the content marketing efforts and manage a team of writers and content strategists
  • Develop and execute a content marketing strategy that aligns with business goals, SEO and brand
  • Manage the content calendar end-to-end, ensuring efficient production with minimal friction and clear processes
  • Ensure content quality, consistency and brand alignment in everything produced
  • Collaborate with web and growth engineering teams to optimize content for search and AI engines, leveraging GEO and SEO expertise
  • Supervise quarterly content planning sessions and work closely with content specialists, product management and marketing to optimize content plans
  • Monitor and report on KPIs for the content program and use analytics tools to identify improvement opportunities
  • Align messaging to ensure integrated campaign support across channels, working closely with marketing, product and brand teams

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of work experience in content or related roles, preferably at technology companies
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a manager or team lead
  • Proven experience creating authoritative and engaging content with a portfolio of written work required
  • Applied knowledge of GEO and SEO, experience with relevant tools and SEO‑driven content calendars
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills with the ability to create highly efficient processes for content production and reuse
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or a relevant discipline
  • Passion for technology and open source
  • Problem‑solving mindset with a willingness to tackle challenges and see projects through to completion
  • Attention to detail and appreciation for quality and standards with adaptability when needed
