The Senior Rust Systems Engineer will own the embedded proxy software running on a fleet of appliances deployed across thousands of school networks, managing everything from the OS layer up through the AWS control plane.
Responsibilities
- Own the embedded proxy software running on a fleet of appliances deployed across thousands of school networks, from the OS layer up through the AWS control plane managing it all.
Requirements
- Embedded Linux fundamentals — device drivers, kernel modules, cross-compilation, or hardware bring-up
- 3+ years hands-on production Rust in a systems or embedded context (not app/web Rust)
- 6+ years total engineering experience
- Systems/network programming — TCP stream handling, socket programming, transparent proxying
- Docker/containerization for constrained/appliance deployment
- Performance testing and profiling — load testing, memory/CPU profiling, flame graph analysis
- Working knowledge of AWS and IaC concepts
Nice to have
- Named fleet/IoT/embedded device product on your resume
- C/C++ or Go alongside Rust
- eBPF/netfilter/HAProxy/Envoy exposure
- RADIUS
- observability (CloudWatch/Splunk/SLOs)
