Role overview
This is an entry-level role on Canonical's Talent Science team, which is responsible for ensuring objective, scientifically rigorous, and efficient talent selection processes across the company's globally distributed workforce. The team uses behavioral science, data analytics, and psychometrics to drive hiring excellence, partnering with the Hiring Leadership team and other key stakeholders to build a best-in-class hiring ecosystem that selects world-class talent regardless of location, culture, or background. In this role, you will learn to implement high-impact hiring strategies, support candidate assessment using behavioural interview techniques, analyze talent data to generate insights, improve hiring process efficiencies, collaborate with senior stakeholders to meet hiring targets, and provide frontline support for hiring-related queries. The role is fully remote, based in the EMEA region, with regular in-person team sprints held 2-4 times per year in interesting global locations.
Responsibilities
- Learn to implement hiring strategies that result in high performance outcomes for company personnel and contribute to leading the team's talent agenda
- Learn to assess candidates using behavioural interview techniques
- Gain a deep understanding of the application of psychometrics in the workplace
- Work on process and documentation efficiencies that support and improve the team's hiring practices
- Contribute to projects that drive successful hiring outcomes, including using advanced analytics skills to integrate data and draw actionable insights
- Build excellent stakeholder relationships to design and implement solutions to complex problems that ensure the hiring of exceptional talent
- Gain a deep understanding of Canonical's internal systems and platforms to problem solve and provide support for hiring-related queries
- Serve as frontline support for tickets and company channel questions, resolving issues while deepening knowledge of the team's hiring processes
Requirements
- Eligibility for entry-level talent roles
- Undergraduate degree in a psychology or people-focused subject, paired with an exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Relevant exposure to the talent field via university coursework, a relevant internship, or first role in a talent team
- Advanced analytical ability to dissect and analyze data using SQL
- Keen interest in talent assessment, with demonstrated passion for understanding human decisions and behaviors
- Ability to prioritize and deliver work in a fast-paced environment, with self-motivation and drive to succeed in a remote work setting
- Passion and interest for technology platforms and automations to drive process efficiencies
- Passion for working in the technology space, with evidence supporting this interest
- Results-driven mindset with ability to work at pace, plus strong project management skills to roadmap, plan, and deliver objectives in collaboration with the team
- Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
- Drive, ambition, and curiosity to drive breakthroughs in the talent field
- Ability to travel internationally 2-4 times per year for company events, occasionally for two-week periods
