Role overview
One97 Communications Limited (Paytm) is India’s leading payments and financial services distribution company, pioneering technologies like QR codes, Soundbox, and mobile payments to help small businesses with payments and commerce. Paytm’s mission is to serve half a billion Indians and bring them into the mainstream economy through technology. The litigation team manages pan-India litigation (civil, consumer, labor, arbitration, etc.), provides day-to-day advisory to business, and coordinates with law enforcement agencies. The role involves in-house litigation management for the entire One97 group as a Deputy General Manager (DGM) aligned with the Litigation team.
Responsibilities
- Litigation Management and control
- Drafting of legal notices, written statements, replies, representations, presentations, etc.
- Providing legal advice on day-to-day operations
- Handling police complaints, notices, and letters
- Court appearances on behalf of the company
- Managing external counsel
- Risk management
- Coordinating and dealing with various authorities
- Coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all prescribed regulatory norms
- Legal research and miscellaneous legal work
- Drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, and other court documents
- Developing and implementing litigation strategies
- Managing case files and maintaining accurate records
Requirements
- Must be a graduate in LLB
- 12-15 years of work experience in handling litigation matters
- Minimum 4-5 years of experience working in-house in litigation
- Good legal knowledge
- Sound knowledge of the litigation process
- Excellent drafting skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with court procedures and rules
- Strong trial experience
- Negotiation skills
- Good interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and coordinate complex issues
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and efficiently
