Role overview

Credit Acceptance is an award-winning used car finance company and one of the largest in the United States. This role involves working remotely from India as a globally distributed team member, partnering with U.S.-based business partners to design, build, and scale data solutions that impact customers and operations. While the legal employer will be an EoR partner, the position involves full integration into the Credit Acceptance team for day-to-day collaboration. The role emphasizes leadership in data engineering, driving technical excellence, and enabling business outcomes through data platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineers, providing clear direction, feedback, and career growth opportunities
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Drive strong engagement through effective 1:1s, performance management, and team development planning
  • Ensure the team operates with a One Team mindset, collaborating effectively across functions
  • Own the successful delivery of end-to-end data pipelines and platform capabilities across batch and streaming architectures
  • Ensure high standards for data quality, scalability, reliability, and observability
  • Drive execution against priorities, balancing speed, quality, and technical sustainability
  • Partner with Product, Analytics, and Business teams to ensure delivery aligns with business needs
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical direction across the data domain
  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and design principles
  • Anticipate risks related to performance, scalability, and data quality and proactively mitigate them
  • Support the adoption of modern data technologies and frameworks
  • Translate business strategy into clear technical priorities and execution plans
  • Ensure alignment between long-term data platform strategy and near-term delivery goals
  • Lead prioritization discussions, balancing competing demands and resource constraints
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives that elevate the organization's data capabilities
  • Champion coding standards, testing practices, and CI/CD adoption to ensure high-quality, production-grade systems
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and innovation
  • Lead efforts to improve team processes, system design, and delivery efficiency
  • Ensure strong documentation and maintainability of systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders within the data domain
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to enable effective collaboration
  • Regularly overlap with U.S. business hours to support collaboration with global team members
  • Remain compliant with company policies, processes and guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Attendance as required by department

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in data platforms and systems
  • 6+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering teams
  • Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures
  • Data engineering and pipeline development (batch and streaming)
  • Programming (Python, SQL, PySpark) and data modeling
  • Cloud data platforms and distributed systems
  • Experience delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in Agile environments

Nice to have

  • Experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Kafka)
  • Familiarity with AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda)
  • Experience with orchestration and transformation frameworks (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Dagster)
  • Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks
  • Experience in financial services or FinTech

  • CTC Range: ₹ 71,31,986 - ₹ 1,04,60,246
  • Total Compensation (CTC): Final CTC will be shared during the offer stage and will include all compensation components in detail as per EoR vendor's structure
  • Final compensation within the range is influenced by many factors including role-specific skills, depth and experience level, industry background, relevant education and certifications
  • Locally compliant payroll, benefits, and statutory coverage through the EoR partner

  • You will be legally employed in India through our EoR partner
  • While your legal employer is the EoR partner, you will work full-time and be fully aligned to Credit Acceptance
