BlackRock’s Outsourced Platform Services (OPS) provides global middle and back office support, including trade support, transaction servicing, and investment accounting, with a focus on scalable, controlled, and high-quality operational support for clients. The Global Client Alternative Services (GCAS) team, a specialized unit within OPS, ensures the integrity of cash and position data for middle office clients and supports Aladdin clients investing in alternatives and private markets. This role, as an Associate, involves supporting private markets and alternatives operations, including reconciliation, settlement, exception management, documentation review, and client service, while maintaining accurate IBOR data and managing operational risk. The role demands expertise in reconciliation, exception management, and client service, complemented by strong problem-solving, data analysis, and process improvement skills.
Responsibilities
- Apply deep expertise in loan and private markets—including project finance, structured credit, real assets, and syndicated loans—to engage effectively with stakeholders, agents, borrowers, counterparties, and high-profile clients.
- Interpret and analyze complex legal documentation, translating key provisions into actionable insights to ensure operational clarity.
- Facilitate settlement processes across a broad spectrum of instruments, including syndications, secondary trades, CLOs, restructurings, private markets, infrastructure debt, renewable power, real estate debt, and trade claims.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the Investment Book of Record (IBOR).
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of portfolios and deal documentation to uphold control standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead initiatives focused on process automation and control enhancements to improve efficiency and mitigate operational risk.
- Investigate and resolve cash, position, and transaction discrepancies promptly and accurately.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Maintain documentation, support management initiatives, and drive operational efficiency.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in loan operations or similar expertise in settlements, reconciliations, and documentation-driven transactions.
- Strong understanding of private credit, real assets, and project finance.
- Exceptional communication and client service skills, with the ability to foster strong relationships.
- Comprehensive understanding of banking and investment management, including experience in alternatives such as Private Credit, bank loans, credit strategies, registered funds, financial institutions, and a diverse range of investor types.
- Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure in high-volume, high-risk environments with minimal margin for error.
- Highly self-motivated and collaborative, demonstrating a proactive approach to taking on additional responsibilities.
- Strong capability to prioritize and manage multiple requests while maintaining focus on overarching objectives and deadlines.
- Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to make well-informed judgments based on available information and seek clarification or assistance when necessary.
- Comfortable working within dynamic teams that embrace varied perspectives and problem-solving approaches.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related applications.
- Solid knowledge of trading instruments and settlement processes.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in execution.
- Demonstrated initiative and commitment to contributing beyond defined responsibilities to support team and firm-wide goals.
