Key highlights
- 100% remote work
- 5+ years of experience required
- Fair and transparent, location-adjusted salary
- Senior-level autonomy
Role overview
This role is part of saas.group’s Central Platform Engineering Team, which runs central infrastructure services and partners with brands to modernize their stacks. The mission is to provide a 'paved road' of opinionated best practices (observability, backups, CI/CD, infra as code) that brands can adopt quickly, and to support hands-on migrations when needed. You’ll own outcomes for a set of brands: assess their current state, recommend improvements, and implement plans. The role blends architecture, enablement, and practical engineering, requiring senior-level autonomy to advise stakeholders and deliver results.
Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure projects for assigned brands: migrations, performance & reliability improvements, incident response practices, containerization, and cloud cost optimizations.
- Establish/upgrade CI/CD, infra as code, monitoring, alerting, and SLO-aligned dashboards; baseline and improve reliability with data.
- Advise brand CTOs/engineering leads on trade-offs and architecture; justify decisions with clear reasoning and measurable outcomes.
- Contribute to and consume central services (e.g., observability, backups) so brands don’t reinvent the wheel.
- Collaborate with developers as part of the product team during engagements; troubleshoot across app and infra boundaries.
- Bring AI into the paved road itself: use tools like Claude Code or Codex daily to speed up IaC, scripting, and incident diagnosis, and help brand teams pick up the same habits in their own workflows.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (lightweight today; scaling toward a fair, shared model).
- Complete central onboarding by pairing with a team member for ~2 weeks to learn patterns and tooling, then start managing the brands assigned to you.
- Lead the onboarding of at least one brand to 'paved road' standards (GitHub org, CI/CD, monitoring/observability, IaC), with positive feedback from brand leadership and the team.
- Deliver one or more migrations/refactors (e.g., CI/CD, infra modernization, cost/availability improvements) and document decisions so others can build on them.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Platform or Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering roles, operating at a senior level with strong ownership and autonomy.
- Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (ideally Terraform).
- Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and best practices; able to assess, design, and modernize pipelines across diverse brand environments.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, New Relic, ELK, Prometheus, or similar) and sound judgment on what 'good' looks like.
- Hands-on, daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, or similar) in real infra work, not just curiosity about them; comfortable coaching brand teams on how to use them well.
- A background in software development or the ability to read and debug application code.
- Excellent communication and consulting skills; confident in advising and influencing technical stakeholders while adapting to different teams and tech stacks.
Benefits
- Ultimate flexibility: 100% remote work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
- Freedom and autonomy: high-trust team with flexibility to solve problems in your own way, with team support when needed.
- Minimum bureaucracy: efficient workflows with few meetings and little red tape.
- Small & friendly team: collaborative, fun, and supportive environment.
- Network: community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals exchanging ideas, knowledge, and expertise.
- Flexible time off: ability to recharge when needed.
- Fair and transparent pay: location-adjusted salary ranges targeting local market medians for a remote-first environment, shared in writing before the first interview.
