Role overview
The role is responsible for operating, governing, and continuously improving the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) while enabling AI agents and automation to reduce manual maintenance and improve accuracy. The position sits within Hitachi Vantara’s global data‑infrastructure team, supporting diverse customers and driving real‑world impact with data.
Responsibilities
- CMDB Administration & Governance Operations: manage CI classes, relationships, lifecycle states, ownership fields; conduct certification cycles; maintain quality dashboards and exception management; prepare compliance/audit evidence; ensure changes follow standards and do not break reconciliation rules.
- Data Quality & Hygiene: identify and resolve duplicates, orphan relationships, stale CIs; correct inconsistent attributes (manufacturer, model, location, environment); support incident assignment, change impact analysis, problem root‑cause analysis, and asset/license alignment.
- AI Agent / Automation Enablement (Core Requirement): provide automated CI enrichment suggestions; develop AI‑assisted remediation tasks and routing; implement intelligent CMDB exception triage; define AI agent capabilities and limits; maintain auditability of who/what/when changes occur; ensure safe human‑in‑the‑loop steps for high‑impact actions.
- Cross‑Module Support: integrate with ITSM flows (incident, change, problem); align ITAM and SAM (asset ↔ CI linkage, normalization).
Requirements
- Experience with CMDB model, relationships, certification, and quality dashboards.
- Proficiency with Flow Designer, basic scripting, and ACL understanding as needed.
- Ability to partner with infrastructure/application teams for CI ownership and certification.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Discovery/Service Mapping outputs and how data lands into the CMDB.
- Experience managing automation/AI features within ServiceNow.
