Role overview
EDC, established in 2003, is the first BIM Level 2 Certified Consultancy in the UK and Ireland, specialising in sustainable MEP engineering and low-energy, high-performance building design. With offices in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Dublin, London, and Istanbul — plus recent expansion into the African market — EDC is seeking a skilled MEP professional to support their mission of delivering excellence in MEP and sustainability services with positive environmental and social impact.
Responsibilities
- Design management of projects as appropriate to ensure deadlines are met.
- Carry out M&E design work as applicable using REVIT MEP and Navis, delivering constructible 3D clash-free models for EDC's clients.
- Produce Revit models coordinated with architectural and structural designs.
- Assist the project lead in preparing calculations and construction documentation.
- Research, plan, design and develop building engineering systems, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing and electrical, in strict consultation and coordination with the project lead.
- Ensure BIM & CAD standards are upheld.
- Use Autodesk Revit tools to present design and engineering solutions.
- Conduct Navisworks clash detection process for MEP coordination.
- Produce schematics in AutoCAD from floor plans and mark-ups.
- Document all designs in accordance with requirements of design practice manuals.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in an MEP Building Consultancy or BIM Production Company.
- 4+ years of experience producing drawings using 3D Modelling tools, ideally at least 3 years using REVIT MEP and Navisworks.
- Experience in commercial, residential, educational, healthcare and industrial projects.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Digital Engineering, or related field.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Familiarity with ISO 19650 standards and digital project delivery frameworks.
- Possess a good knowledge of the practicalities of design, and the ability to make informed design decisions.
- An understanding of the overall workings of BIM modelling is essential, and the ability to fill in for senior staff when required (e.g., model set-up and management).
- Basic understanding of LEAN principles, ISO 19650 and Information Management – COBie/IFC Delivery.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple jobs/tasks.
