Key highlights
- Stipend: Unpaid initially
- Duration: 3 months
- Location: Remote
- Required Stack: Next.js 14, Node.js 22 (NestJS), TypeScript
- Potential for full-time conversion or client absorption
Role overview
The Technical Architect (Frontend/Backend) is responsible for establishing the technical foundation and ensuring architectural coherence across all distinct application layers: the high-performance, customer-facing e-commerce UI; the secure internal administrative applications; and the specialized AI agent interaction interfaces. This role is highly hands-on, focused on bridging the gap between high-level architectural design and implementation across the full stack.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy for our application layers, ensuring robust, scalable, and API-first development practices.
- Establish the technical foundations for all applications, specifically leveraging Next.js 14, React 18, and Tailwind CSS for the frontend, and the Node.js 22 (NestJS) modular monolith for the backend.
- Design and document the API-first architecture that facilitates seamless communication both within the monolithic modules (MES ↔ WMS ↔ OMS) and externally for tool-to-tool communication (e.g., Slack to AI agents).
- Select and standardize frameworks, libraries (e.g., Radix UI, Framer Motion), and coding patterns to ensure consistency, performance, and maintainability across the Monorepo structure.
- Create comprehensive system diagrams and document all major architectural decisions for the frontend UX, the admin/B2B portal, and the integration points with Meilisearch and MinIO.
- Enforce high code quality and testing standards across the organization.
- Lead technical strategy workshops and actively mentor developers on best practices, performance optimization, and security protocols.
- Define the frontend patterns and API integration points for the AI agent interfaces, ensuring high usability and real-time feedback.
- Architect the backend services that enable AI agents to interact with in-house SaaS tools (e.g., retrieving information from a Jira-like system or posting updates to a communication tool).
- Ensure architectural compatibility with AI orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
Requirements
- Deep, hands-on architectural experience across the specified, cutting-edge stack.
- Frontend Mastery: Next.js 14, React 18, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, Framer Motion.
- Backend Expertise: Node.js 22 (NestJS Modular Monolith), TypeScript.
- Architecture & Workflow: Monorepo structure, API design (REST/GraphQL), CI/CD via Makefile, Automated Testing Pipelines.
- Data & Auth Knowledge: Strong familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, and JWT-based tenant-aware authentication (Authentik/Ory Kratos).
Benefits
- May convert to a paid internship, full-time role, or even direct client absorption (FTE) based on your performance
Additional details
- Duration: 3 months (extendable based on performance and project scope)
- Start Date: Immediate
- Location: Remote
- Stipend: Unpaid initially
- Performance will be measured by Architectural Coherence (establishment and enforcement of full-stack architectural standards), Performance (measurable improvements in frontend Lighthouse scores and API response times), and Team Enablement (effectiveness of mentorship and documentation).
- Mentorship Structure: Reports to the Solution Architect/Head of Technology, providing direct technical guidance and mentorship to Frontend and Backend Senior Developers.
