Role overview

The Learning Designer, Technical/AI is a full‑time, India‑based role responsible for designing and developing Coursera‑produced content and supporting APAC partners. The role focuses on learning design, prototyping, experimentation, and ensuring high‑quality vendor production, primarily in AI/ML, Computer Science, Data Science and related technical domains, while collaborating with SMEs, vendors, and cross‑functional internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead learning design for scaled Coursera‑produced learning experiences (short- and long-form) with emphasis on modular, skill‑aligned design and robust assessment design.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (including technical SMEs) to translate expertise into vendor‑ready design deliverables, including learning outcomes, program architectures, outlines, storyboards, sequenced learning journeys, and assessment specifications, while ensuring technical accuracy and real‑world applicability.
  • Build replicable design systems, templates, and acceptance criteria to accelerate consistent production across vendors.
  • Collaborate on repackaging efforts: recombine modules and learning assets into new long‑form offerings or program structures that align to skill outcomes.
  • Adhere to design standards; provide detailed, actionable feedback and Quality Assurance checks to production vendors and Coursera partners.
  • Contribute to pedagogical innovation, AI‑assisted design tooling, prompts, templates, agentic workflows, and technology‑enabled content development processes that improve quality, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Produce vendor‑ready design deliverables and collaborate with internal teams including Teaching & Learning, Learning Analytics, Content Production Management, and Content Maintenance & Optimization to ensure strong alignment of design practices, share findings, and continuously improve designs.
  • Partner with SMEs, APAC partners, and production vendors to develop asynchronous, skill‑aligned, online learning content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related technical domain.
  • 3–5 years of combined experience in technical domains (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML, and related areas) and/or designing, teaching, developing, or supporting technical learning experiences, curricula, or educational products.
  • Experience as a technical instructor, curriculum developer, subject matter expert, bootcamp educator, learning designer, or similar role supporting adult learners in higher education, professional education, or workforce development.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on technical proficiency, including building, prototyping, or implementing software applications, AI solutions, agentic workflows, or other technology‑enabled products.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging GenAI technologies to solve real‑world problems, improve workflows, develop educational experiences, or build AI‑assisted tools and solutions.
