Role overview
Miaplaza is an EdTech company building homeschool platforms for kids aged 4‑18, serving over 150,000 students. They are looking for a Senior Product Designer whose core craft is illustration and motion to own the end‑to‑end design of the student learning experience, set company‑wide visual standards, and art‑direct AI‑assisted illustration and motion production.
Responsibilities
- Own product design for the student learning experience end‑to‑end: from problem framing through delivery, working in a Product Trio with a PM and EM.
- Make product trade‑off decisions (pedagogical, technical, business) and be accountable for how the solution lands, not just how it looks.
- Set the illustration and motion bar for all of Miaplaza: define standards, motion principles, and character direction for the design system and other designers.
- Art‑direct AI‑assisted production by building prompts, references, and a review process that enables a small team to produce quality illustration and motion at scale.
- Report to the Head of UX and attend regular 1:1s covering craft, product, and career growth.
- Provide upward career direction, potentially deeper craft leadership, cross‑product influence, or both.
Requirements
- A portfolio of shipped digital product work — not only concepts or standalone pieces.
- At least 2 years working inside a product team, collaborating with PMs and engineers.
- Strong illustration or motion skills, with at least 1 year focused on either as a primary craft.
- Proficiency in Figma.
- Some experience directing or guiding visual work produced by others — freelancers, junior designers, or AI tools.
Nice to have
- Deep motion skills in product contexts: interactions, transitions, onboarding, character animation.
- Experience using AI image or motion tools as production accelerators.
- Confidence running your own usability research, not just receiving findings.
- Multi‑brand or education‑focused design experience.
- Accessibility practice, especially for neurodivergent audiences.
Benefits
- 100% remote work (EMEA, CET±2) with occasional in‑person team gatherings.
- Full‑time schedule (40 hours per week).
- Opportunities for deeper craft leadership and cross‑product influence.
- Regular 1:1s with the Head of UX covering craft, product, and career growth.
- Equal‑opportunity employer; accommodations provided during the hiring process.
- Transparent hiring process with honest, timely feedback at every step.
Additional details
- Location: 100% remote (EMEA, CET±2), with team gatherings in person a few times a year.
- Hours: Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
- Pay: €60,000 to €90,000 annually, adjusted by experience and location.
- Hiring process steps: Application and eligibility check; async assessment (12 scenario‑based multiple‑choice questions, then 3 open‑ended questions if qualified); portfolio review; behavioral interview; take‑home design task (≈60 min, AI tools encouraged); hiring team interview; skip‑level conversation with executive leadership; reference checks.
