Role overview
Convatec is modernising its data and digital platforms and we need a hands on DevOps lead to own ci/cd end to end for Digital and Technology. This role will be a single point of accountability for how code and data pipelines move from commit to production, building the pipelines, the standards, and the guardrails that let engineering teams ship quickly, safely, and repeatedly. This is a lead role but a hands on one: you set the direction and you build it.
Responsibilities
- Own the CI/CD estate for Digital & Technology – design, build, and continuously improve pipelines across applications and data platforms.
- Establishing and enforce branching, release and deployment standards (trunk-based/GitFlow, environment promotion, release gates, rollback).
- Build and maintain GitHub action workflows as the primary automation backbone; standardised reusable workflows and composite actions across teams
- Migrate and rationalise existing Azure DevOps pipelines and repos; run a consistent toolchain during the transition.
- Embed code quality and security gates (SonarQube, SAST/DAST, dependency and secret screening) as non-negotiable stages in every pipeline.
- Implement infrastructure as Code for repeatable, auditable environment (Terraform and/or Bicep).
- Partner with the Data & AI teams to build CI/CD and data pipelines (Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Dbt, Power BI deployments) - not just application code
- Stand up observability for the delivery process - build health, deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR (DORA metrics).
- Act as DevOps authority and coach across engineering teams - set best practise, review approaches and raise the maturity of the whole group.
Requirements
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in a CI/CD DevOps role or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience working across multiple teams instilling CI/CD best practices.
- Deep expertise with GitHub and GitHub Actions
- Strong hands-on Azure DevOps experience
- Experience implementing CI/CD best practices across multiple engineering teams
- Knowledge of code quality and security tooling (SonarQube, SAST/DAST, dependency scanning, secrets management)
- Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and/or Bicep
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Fabric and modern data platform delivery
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
