Role overview
Evri Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in designing, building, and delivering scalable software solutions while helping to raise engineering standards across teams. This remote role, with travel into Morley when required, offers the opportunity to broaden skills, influence technical direction, and contribute to modern, cloud-based solutions powering one of the UK's largest parcel delivery businesses.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, deployment, and support of complex software features and services.
- Build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that align with architectural standards.
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to shape technical solutions and influence requirements.
- Drive engineering best practice through clean code, design patterns, testing strategies, and code quality standards.
- Mentor and support engineers through coaching, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and pair programming.
- Champion automation, CI/CD, observability, and DevOps practices to improve software delivery and reliability.
- Ensure solutions meet security, performance, scalability, and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process, tooling, and engineering practice improvements.
- Contribute to technical strategy, engineering standards, and architectural decision-making.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for innovation where it delivers business value.
Requirements
- Significant experience in software engineering within Agile delivery environments.
- Strong expertise in either Java and Spring Boot, or JavaScript/TypeScript and React or Vue.
- Experience designing and building scalable, production-grade applications.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability tooling.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience collaborating across engineering, product, and delivery teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A passion for mentoring others and supporting team growth.
