Role overview
Tarteel is a religious technology company with over 20M downloads, dedicated to strengthening the relationship Muslims have with the Quran through state-of-the-art AI tools. The company consists of a core team of 20 individuals and maintains partnerships with leading AI companies like Nvidia. In this role, you will help design, build, and maintain a mobile application primarily built with React Native, including some native modules and Kotlin Multiplatform for performance-critical tasks. Because most features are built to work offline, the role offers the opportunity to solve complex challenges that push the limits of mobile development.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications using React, React Native, Kotlin, and SQL
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features
- Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance
- Execute on pixel-perfect responsive designs and animations with a high degree of polish and an eye for detail
- Strong alignment towards creating functional and delightful user experiences for the intended audience
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices
- Proactively identify and drive changes as needed across all product areas
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues
- Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and product quality
- Provide strategic insight and technical guidance on how to architect our code base to support our user base as we scale product features
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in mobile or full-stack development
- 1+ years of experience in React Native development
- Proficiency in JavaScript, with relevant experience using React and React Native
- Strong understanding of mobile and web application architecture, design patterns, and best practices
- Solid knowledge of version control systems (e.g. Git)
- Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment tools and processes
- Experience with feature flagging and A/B testing
- Experience with development and maintenance of products serving 1M+ users
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Availability for meetings from Monday to Thursday between 8am and 12pm Eastern
Nice to have
- Experience with native (iOS, Android) code development using Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform
- Experience with SQL
