Role overview
HVDC is seeking a Category Specialist for the HVDC Control & Protection category to support global sourcing initiatives in collaboration with the global category manager. The role involves transforming category strategies into actionable plans, working with project teams and stakeholders to ensure optimal business outcomes, and developing/executing short- and long-term category strategies aligned with HVDC Business Strategies. The specialist will focus on supplier development, procurement, and compliance with corporate policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Category Strategies on short and long terms that align with the HVDC Business Strategies
- Ensure purchasing activities align with corporate purchasing policies and procedures
- Develop the Supplier base within Control & Protection MACH Cubicles, PCBAs, and other Electrical Products, with focus on total cost, quality, lead time, and capacity to support Control & Protection Cubicles in India and globally
- Design and implement supplier strategies in both the short and long-term using market, cost, and risk analyses
- Ensure suppliers comply with the laws, regulations, standards, certificates, and directives required by Hitachi Energy
- Secure material procurement for Production plants
- Support the development and implementation of regional/global sourcing strategies in alignment with the regional/global Category leader
- Handle Localization and Cabinet Integration Supplier development, Frame Agreement & Commercial Negotiation, PPAP, Dynamic evolution
- Coordinate with Engineering for BOM, Mass production planning, and ensure delivery to FST according to project plan
- Drive RFQ and negotiation for projects in execution to ensure focus on TCO, quality, lead time, and capacity
- Work with category managers, operational buyers, transport managers, logistic planners, supplier quality engineers, Engineering, FST, and others to ensure goods and materials are procured, produced, integrated, and delivered on budget, on time, and with quality to FST laboratory and project sites worldwide
- Interact with stakeholders in tender and project execution (Engineering, Quality, FST, R&D, service, tender management, project management, general management levels at HVDC, and the global SCM organization)
- Periodically renew pricelists, contracts, terms and conditions, and run benchmark studies for the category team and specific sourcing initiatives
- Create local contract amendments to frame agreements on behalf of a country and update/maintain frame contracts
- Onboard new suppliers in collaboration with the respective local buyer
- Run regular supplier evaluations and provide supplier reports to Businesses and Category Managers
- Establish clear and transparent communication internally, externally, and between different Divisions, Business Units, and Functions
- Support the implementation of PL activities and initiatives in the Region/Country through clear communication
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

Requirements
- Degree in B.E. (Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication), Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience
- 10 to 14 years of experience in Category Management, Sourcing Strategy, Global Sourcing, NPD, Project Management, or Procurement
- Knowledge in Control & Protection MACH Cubicle Integrations and PCBAs Assemblies
- Genuine interest in technical components and systems
- Team player with strong collaborative skills who likes to interact with other people
- Ability to work in a multicultural and challenging global business environment and handle several tasks in parallel
- Energetic, motivated, and self-confident person who can handle both ups and downs and manage problems that may occur
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
