The Billing Manager will lead global billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing while transforming the billing function from manual processing to an automated, controlled environment. The role focuses on eliminating revenue leakage, standardizing credit lifecycles, and optimizing processes in a consumption-based pricing model.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the global billing team, ensuring all monthly, quarterly, and annual billing cycles are completed with 100% accuracy.
- Manage the complexities of New Relic’s usage-based billing, ensuring data integrity between product telemetry and financial systems.
- Identify bottlenecks in the billing workflow and implement automated solutions to reduce manual touches.
- Act as the bridge between Sales, Legal, and Customer Success to resolve complex contract billing setups and disputes.
- Maintain internal controls for the billing process and support external audit requests.
- Partner with Business Applications teams to enhance and troubleshoot the billing tech stack (e.g., Billing Platform, NetSuite, Salesforce).
- Establish a unified credit process with clear accountability across Account Executives, Collections, and Deal Desk to reduce operational friction.
- Own the Global Billing Process Playbook, ensuring all processes—from standard invoicing to complex amendments—are documented and optimized.
- Identify manual reconciliation workflows and partner with technical teams to deploy RPA (Robotic Process Automation) solutions.
- Thrive in a high-pressure month-end environment and help teams reduce the financial close cycle.
Requirements
- 8+ years in Billing or Revenue Operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role within a SaaS environment.
- Deep understanding of SaaS, consumption-based billing, and deferred revenue concepts.
- High proficiency with Billing Platform (or similar billing engines like Zuora), Salesforce, and NetSuite.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to pivot large datasets to find billing errors.
- Ability to explain complex billing logic to non-technical Sales Reps or frustrated customers with empathy and clarity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Experience transitioning a company from fixed-subscription to consumption-based billing.
- A 'process-first' mentality—preferring to spend time automating tasks rather than performing them manually.
- Experience working in a high-volume environment (10k+ invoices monthly).
