Role overview
seQura is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join their Platform team and help build the platform that enables every engineer to ship safely, quickly, and independently. As the company expands into new international markets, the platform must grow without proportional cost increases, while AI transforms how infrastructure is built and operated. The role involves working in a cloud-native AWS environment within a regulated fintech, where security, compliance, and reliability are core product offerings. You will leverage AI agents for everyday platform work, with the goal of advancing toward independent agents operating across the entire platform scope, from infrastructure changes to support and incident response.
Responsibilities
- Help build the platform that lets every engineer at seQura ship safely, quickly, and on their own
- Ensure the platform grows with international expansion without growing cost at the same pace
- Move from AI-assisted to independent AI agents that operate across the whole scope of the platform, from infrastructure changes to support and incident response
- Help seQura launch in multiple new markets, with the isolation, compliance, and reliability each one requires
- Define new strategies to adopt, upgrade, and secure the open source software seQura depends on in the AI era
- Design strategies that let the business keep growing while base infrastructure cost stays flat
- In Month 1: Join existing initiatives, pair with teammates, ship first changes to production, and learn how the team works and why decisions were made
- In Month 2: Own an opportunity from technical design to running it in production
- In Month 3: Find opportunities, lead cross-team initiatives, and bring proposals to next quarter's planning
- Work in a cloud-native AWS environment in a regulated fintech, ensuring security, compliance, and reliability are part of the product
- Use AI agents daily to think through problems, write, review, and iterate on code
- Take responsibility for outcomes, making sound technical and product decisions, and owning every line shipped
Requirements
- Designed and operated highly available distributed systems in production, and lived through what happens when they fail: incidents, post-mortems, and the changes that made sure it didn't happen again
- Proven experience scaling infrastructure at a global scale
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform in production
- A product mindset: put users and the business at the center of decisions, and explain why one initiative matters more than another
- Hands-on experience working with AI agents in daily engineering work
- Agency: don't wait for a ticket; spot the problem, decide it's worth solving, bring people along, and own it until it runs in production
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken
Nice to have
- Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated environments (PCI DSS, DORA, or similar)
- Experience with Terragrunt, Atlantis, or GitOps workflows
- Scripting or programming in Python, Go, or similar
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, the Elastic stack, or Tempo
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling
- Experience building your own AI agents, skills, or automations for engineering teams

- Team: Platform team
- Team Mission: To empower engineers with secure, efficient, and compliant infrastructure, while continuously improving through automation and collaboration
- Team owns multi-account AWS foundation and the Kubernetes (EKS) clusters where seQura's products run
- Team owns Infrastructure as Code with Terragrunt, delivered through pull requests and Atlantis
- Team owns deployment and GitOps tooling: Helm charts, shared deploy configuration, and CI/CD pipelines
- Team owns the observability stack used across engineering: metrics, logs, traces, and alerting
- Team owns security and compliance foundations: secrets management, access control, PCI DSS, and controls required to operate regulated entities across multiple countries under regulations such as DORA, NIS2 and those still to come
- Team owns internal developer tooling, including the AI agents and Claude Code plugins that engineers use to work with the platform on their own
- Internal teams are customers; success is measured by how much they can do without the team
- Team is autonomous end-to-end: code, deploy, observe, improve, and document what they build
- Everything as code, everything through a pull request, everything reviewed, and every important decision written in an ADR
- Strong opinions, held weakly; collaborators over rock stars; blameless by default

- What matters is whether you understand the problem you're solving, can explain the business logic behind it, and own every line you ship, regardless of who wrote it first
- AI helps move faster, challenge assumptions, explore different approaches, and improve solutions
- Knowing which questions to ask, making sound technical and product decisions, and taking responsibility for the outcome is always up to the engineer
- Technical interviews use your own AI tools, and you'll be asked to walk through your solution, both the business reasoning and the code
- The role is not suitable for those only interested in technical challenges without engaging in product decisions, or those who would rather not work with AI
- Already put AI agents to work on everyday platform work: reviewing infrastructure changes, explaining plans, and helping engineers resolve incidents on their own
- Goal is to go further: independent agents working across the whole scope of the platform, with engineers deciding what matters and owning the outcome
