Role overview
Karat, the world's largest interviewing company, is seeking a Content Development Engineer to design and build technical interview questions for assessing software engineering candidates. This role involves creating coding exercises, debugging challenges, and real-world engineering scenarios, implemented across multiple programming languages. The position is remote but requires a schedule overlapping with U.S. business hours and is limited to candidates residing in Bengaluru, India.
Responsibilities
- Design and build technical interview questions, including coding exercises, debugging challenges, knowledge assessments, and real-world engineering scenarios.
- Write and test interview content across multiple programming languages, checking that solutions are correct and consistent.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to speed up content creation, while applying engineering judgment to keep it accurate.
- Conduct peer reviews to make sure content meets Karat's technical and quality standards.
- Update content based on candidate performance data, interviewer feedback, and Content Corrections requests.
- Partner with Content Architecture to improve content development processes and assessment quality.
- Help improve development standards, templates, and documentation for the Content team.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience (post-academic, post-internship), working in at least one modern programming language
- Strong software engineering fundamentals: debugging, testing, reviewing code, and giving constructive technical feedback
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, or similar)
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Residency in Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore), India
- Availability during U.S. business hours
