Overview Network Engineer I Expedia Group helps travelers explore the world through trusted partnerships and technology-driven travel experiences. The Infrastructure & Enterprise Engineering team designs, builds, and operates global networks and core platforms that support brands across data centers, cloud environments, offices, and remote users. As a Network Engineer I, you will work with experienced engineers to support the design, deployment, and operation of enterprise and cloud networks. The role involves handling defined tasks within larger projects, troubleshooting production issues, and learning how networks are designed for reliability, scalability, and security. What You’ll Do Support daily operations of enterprise and data center networks using established runbooks. Assist with implementing and validating production network changes and designs. Perform LODO activities including software upgrades, patching, failover testing, and network health checks. Monitor intake channels and respond or escalate issues as needed. Troubleshoot basic connectivity problems, collect diagnostic data, and escalate where required. Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks. Continue learning infrastructure standards, tools, and networking technologies. Required Qualifications 0 to 2 years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure, or a related technical field. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant discipline. Networking or cloud certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Arista ACE Level 1, AWS foundational, or similar. Experience contributing to a network deployment or implementation through a project, internship, or professional role. Exposure to public or hybrid cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Basic understanding of routing and switching technologies including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, ACLs, NAT, and subnets. Knowledge of physical and virtual networking concepts. Familiarity with at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Go, or PowerShell. Ability to follow operational processes and collaborate with teams to resolve issues. Preferred Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field. Exposure to cloud networking components such as VPCs, gateways, load balancers, and security groups. Experience with observability and monitoring tools including NetFlow/IPFIX, SNMP, Datadog, Logic Monitor, or Catchpoint. Exposure to automation tools and technologies such as Terraform, APIs, and Ansible. Interest in emerging cloud and networking technologies.
