Role overview
Databricks is seeking an Engineering Manager in India to lead the development of scalable infrastructure and products for its data and AI platform. The role involves building resources for big data and machine learning workloads, creating cross-cloud tools, and ensuring high technical standards through processes and culture. The manager will hire top engineers, collaborate with product and sales teams to innovate, and coordinate cross-functional projects to unblock critical initiatives. Responsibilities include maintaining scalability, security, and cloud agnosticism while working across domains like distributed systems and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage infrastructure for big data and machine learning workloads on the Databricks platform
- Develop scalable services and client libraries handling massive data across clouds and regions
- Create tools for operating services in multi-cloud/environment setups
- Engineer products/infrastructure at the intersection of ML and distributed systems
- Hire and lead top-tier software engineers to build a strong team
- Institute technical processes (code reviews, testing) and foster a culture of engineering excellence
- Collaborate with product and sales leadership to define long-term roadmaps
- Coordinate cross-team execution to address cross-cutting projects
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems, including testing, monitoring, and SLA management
- Proven experience as a Software Engineering Leader, including building and scaling teams from the ground up
- Extensive team management experience with strong software engineers
- BS/CS or related field degree
- Ability to partner with PM, Sales, and Customers to co-develop innovative features/products
