Role overview
The opportunity is for a Business HSE Specialist position within the HSE function for HVDC project sites, responsible for creating and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs to prevent workplace injuries and environmental accidents. The role involves driving HSE positive behaviors, promoting integrity and regulatory compliance, supporting site teams with HSE operations, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with ISO management systems like ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Responsibilities
- Creating and implementing health, safety, occupational and environmental programs to prevent injuries and illnesses within the workplace and environmental accidents
- Inspecting workplace and environmental incidents in accordance with company procedures and implementing corrective actions
- Ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements related to environmental and employee health and safety and identifying areas for improvement
- Developing and managing an environmental and employee health & safety training plan
- Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization
- Act as a Business HSE Specialist within the HSE function for HVDC project sites, drive and promote HSE positive behaviours, be a leader in promoting integrity, regulatory and corporate & social responsibility at all times
- Support the HVDC HSE operations and site teams in HSE related matters and the implementation of HSE programs and focus initiatives
- Drive behavioural change through implementing Group-wide performance improvement programs and practices locally to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture as well as a strong focus on environment throughout the respective organization
- Engage internal customers to raise awareness on all HSE across all functions, responsible for HSE reporting, analysis of hazards, incidents & other HSE KPI’s for global HVDC project sites
- Support the project HSE managers & site HSE team with the issues related to HSE, support and participate in routine and non-routine HSE audits
- Coordinate and promote the effective closure of various HSE origin and related corrective and preventive actions
- Report incidents & Hazards & promote the process within own unit & across Hitachi energy. Feedback on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across Hitachi Energy to management and employees
- Engage in incident investigation processes ensuring that causal factors identified have sound and sustainable actions tracked to closure. Drive and promote HSE awareness and HSE understanding within HVDC, establish good exchange and collaboration with site HSE team and assist in HSE reporting
- Share lessons learned as well as best practices to all project sites, drive and ensures compliance with Group management systems (e.g. ISO 14001 and ISO 45001)
- Support and co-develop for continuous improvement on HSE reporting and KPI methodology and analysis, promote awareness and training of ISO Management System Standards as they apply to HSE Operations and Governance activity
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

Requirements
- Engineering degree with Masters in HSE
- Minimum work experience of 8+ years in EPC HSE
- Good behaviour and auditing attributes
- Knowledge and skills in ISO19011, Auditing, ISO45001 & ISO14001
- Experience using MS Office: Word, Excel
Nice to have
- Experience in EPC Projects & Electrical related industry
- Experience as Lead Auditor for ISO45001
- Experience in Environment & Sustainability topics
- Experience in substation environment and protection application
- NEBOSH - International General Certificate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
