Role overview

David Kennedy Recruitment is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to join a fast-growing AI technology company's R&D/Engineering team. This hands-on role involves designing, building, and scaling core applications while collaborating with the CTO, Tech Lead, Product Managers, and SREs. The company's products include adult/NSFW content, so candidates must be fully comfortable working on them.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby on Rails
Collaborate with Product Managers to review requirements and translate specifications into technical solutions
Prepare technical integration plans, development breakdowns and effort estimates
Implement new features and improve existing platform functionality
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code
Take part in pull requests, peer code reviews and testing
Troubleshoot application issues and improve reliability, performance and scalability
Contribute to technical decision-making and product roadmap discussions
Experiment with technologies and approaches that improve product functionality and user experience
Work with distributed engineering, infrastructure and product teams

Requirements

5+ years' commercial experience as a Backend or Full-Stack Software Engineer
Strong, recent hands-on Ruby on Rails experience in production
Ability to independently design and implement complex backend features
Experience on applications serving thousands or more monthly active users, with an understanding of building reliable, scalable systems
Experience in technology scale-ups, startups or similarly agile environments, comfortable with changing priorities and tight deadlines
Proven ability to take features from requirements through development, testing and production
Excellent spoken and written English, and comfortable working with international remote teams
Based in Europe, with CET ±3 hours working overlap
Fully comfortable working on AI companionship products involving uncensored and NSFW content
