Role overview

Óscala is a Dutch/Spanish supplier of nearshore software engineering services with HQ in Haarlem (NL) and a Software Development Center in Valencia city center. They provide additional (remote) capacity to clients in The Netherlands and surrounding countries, helping them build software solutions, web applications, mobile apps, and similar. Each Óscala Software Developer works exclusively for one client as an integral part of their Software Development team, collaborating closely with Tech Leads, Architects, and IT team colleagues in The Netherlands, Germany, or Belgium. They are currently seeking a Data Engineer for full remote work with a client whose mission is to empower businesses to bring seamless, affordable connectivity to their customers through a disruptive wholesale business model combining technology with Tier 1 Mobile Network Operators.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust ELT pipelines and transformation models.
  • Support and optimise Snowflake data warehouse performance.
  • Build and maintain dbt models, ensuring associated documentation is current.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot failures across data pipelines, Airbyte connectors, schema changes, and ingestion issues.
  • Support critical Tableau reporting datasets and meet downstream reporting requirements.
  • Drive improvements in reliability, governance, and observability across the entire data platform.
  • Support Finance and commercial reporting needs, including revenue recognition, P&L, and margin analysis.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, Product, and Operations.
  • Contribute actively to initiatives focused on data quality, metric consistency, and documentation.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer

Nice to have

  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake
  • Strong hands-on experience with dbt
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python
  • Strong hands-on experience with ELT / ingestion tooling
  • Cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
  • Strong hands-on experience with Airbyte
  • Strong hands-on experience with S3
  • Strong hands-on experience with Git-based workflows and CI/CD concepts
  • Strong hands-on experience with Tableau or equivalent BI tooling
  • Strong hands-on experience with revenue or finance reporting datasets
