Role overview
This is a brand new role being established for an early-stage startup within the LATAM region, operating out of Montevideo, Uruguay. The position involves defining and implementing the legal framework for all contractual relationships with clients, vendors, and partners across Latin America. The role requires taking the lead on managing a full legal cycle from contract creation and drafting through negotiation and execution, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Draft and finalize contracts for various commercial relationships (clients, vendors, partners, etc.) to effectively protect the company's interests.

- Successfully manage the full contract lifecycle process for every business dealing.
- Ensure all contracts are compliant with local regulations in Latin America, with a particular focus on Uruguayan law.
- Collaborate with the Management team and other key company stakeholders to guarantee that commercial agreements are legally sound and well-defined.
- Be a critical and strategic legal partner, providing valuable input and guidance in high-level decisions.
- Assist with the resolution of disputes, regulatory issues, and legal conflicts, and offer proactive legal solutions to mitigate business risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years of experience in contract drafting and reviewing.
- Proven experience in Latin American regulatory frameworks, particularly Uruguayan law.
- Excellent command of both written and spoken Spanish and English.
Nice to have
- Postgraduate qualifications or specialized certifications in international law or contract management.
- Prior experience working in startups or high-growth technology companies.
- Familiarity with legal technology and contract management software.
