Role overview
The role is a Vice President position within BlackRock's Strategic Finance team based in Mumbai, reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Strategy and FP&A. The VP will drive firm‑wide financial strategy, long‑range forecasting, board and senior leadership presentations, and cross‑functional analytics, while also partnering with JioBlackRock’s asset management, wealth management and brokerage units to establish finance and strategy foundations and supporting special strategic projects in India.
Responsibilities
- Foster and develop strong business partnering relationships, becoming a trusted advisor to CXOs, business and finance stakeholders
- Develop and maintain financial models to provide accurate and timely insights into business performance, robust long-term planning, and scenario analysis
- Conduct in-depth analysis of business and financial results, highlighting key drivers and presenting findings concisely for senior leadership
- Oversee periodic financial reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) for senior management, including quarterly earnings support, Board of Directors presentations, and firm forecast/budget
- Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations to influence key business decisions
- Drive enhancement, automation, and scalability of processes and reporting
- Manage a high-performing team, providing mentorship and clear direction to drive excellence
- Be hands-on in executing key priorities while fulfilling people‑manager responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and other Finance & Strategy sub‑teams
- Drive a collaborative and supportive work environment, coaching and developing team members
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (first attempt or rank) with 8‑12 years of post‑qualification experience in financial due diligence, top‑tier management consulting, innovative tech organization strategy/finance, or premier asset management
- Strong problem‑solving and first‑principle thinking abilities
- Proven experience engaging with CXOs and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience building and managing high‑performance teams and developing young talent
- Strong commercial and business mindset capable of identifying key drivers that impact top and bottom line performance
- Strong command of data analytics, financial modeling, and scenario planning
- Ability to manage fragmentation in a fast‑paced environment
- High intent to perform with a strong sense of ownership
- Collaborative mindset to navigate the organization effectively
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Nice to have
- MBA in Finance from a top‑tier institution (preferred)
- CFA charter from the CFA Institute USA (preferred)
- Experience driving tech transformation and AI initiatives in previous organizations (big plus)

- Strategic Finance team responsibilities: overall financial strategy of the firm, rolling up to Global Head of Corporate Strategy and FP&A, collaborating with Financial Information and Analytics (FI&A) Center of Excellence for scalable analytics and visualization, and advising business partners on financial fundamentals.
- Three role components: (1) Firm‑wide reporting, analytics and strategy – leading long‑range forecasts, board presentations, strategic projects, and analytics for senior leaders; (2) JioBlackRock engagement – partnering with asset management, wealth management and brokerage leadership in Mumbai to set up finance and strategy building blocks, advise CEOs and CXOs, manage capital requirements and cash burn, and act as a thought partner; (3) Select strategy projects and building India as a platform – supporting special India‑focused initiatives.
