Role overview
Beacon Funding is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to test existing and new applications across its technology ecosystem, including internal systems (origination, underwriting, servicing, and portfolio management) and customer- and dealer-facing portals. The role blends manual and automated testing, leverages AI‑assisted testing technologies, and works as an embedded member of an Agile Scrum team to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual and automated testing on existing and new applications, including internal origination, underwriting, and servicing systems as well as customer- and dealer-facing portals.
- Design, execute, and maintain test cases and automated test scripts to validate functionality across legacy and current platforms.
- Analyze test data and results to identify defects, isolate root cause, and document technical issues clearly for engineering teams.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to reproduce issues, clarify requirements, and validate fixes.
- Participate as an active member of an Agile Scrum team — sprint planning, backlog refinement, story review, and retrospectives — to build quality into the development process from the start.
- Develop and extend automated test coverage using a test automation framework.
- Evaluate and apply AI‑assisted testing techniques — including AI‑generated test cases from requirements/user stories, self‑healing test scripts, and intelligent test selection/prioritization — to expand automation coverage and cut maintenance overhead.
- Use AI‑based tools to accelerate analysis of test results, logs, and failure patterns, surfacing likely root cause faster than manual triage alone.
- Track and manage defects through the team's bug‑tracking system, providing clear reproduction steps, severity, and impact assessments.
- Support regression testing across releases affecting both internal tools and customer/dealer‑facing applications.
- Identify bottlenecks in the QA process and swim lane, and recommend process, workflow, or tooling improvements to reduce backlog risk and manual dependency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, quality assurance, or engineering emphasis or equivalent preferred
- 4–6 years of experience in software quality assurance, combining manual and automated testing.
- Experience testing web applications; comfort working across both legacy and modern platforms.
- Working knowledge of a test automation framework and scripting for automated tests.
- Strong aptitude and eagerness to adopt AI‑assisted testing tools and techniques (e.g., AI‑generated test cases, self‑healing automation scripts, AI‑driven test prioritization or log/anomaly analysis). This is an emerging space — a builder mindset and willingness to experiment matter more here than prior hands‑on tenure with AI‑specific tooling.
- Experience with a bug‑tracking or test‑management tool.
- Basic SQL skills for data validation.
- Experience working within Agile Scrum teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to isolate root cause across multi‑system workflows.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting defects and collaborating with a distributed team.
Nice to have
- Experience testing applications in financial services, lending, or equipment leasing is preferred.
- Exposure to API testing is preferred.
- Experience testing customer- or dealer‑facing web portals is preferred.
