Role overview
Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts located in Chennai and Bangalore, collaborating with Hitachi Energy R&D centers across more than 15 locations in 12 countries. IDC has secured more than 200 international papers and 150+ patents in the past 20 years, and plays a key role in verifying and validating products within bay-level solutions, ensuring top-notch product quality. The role involves thorough end-to-end R&D testing of bay-level solutions and support software tools, including enhancing Verification and validation processes using innovative automation paradigms and tools.
Responsibilities
- Verify & validate substation automation products.
- Participate in test core team workshop to understand the product test requirements.
- Perform software/domain test activities on system/product projects, including design, coding, and black box testing of software modules in line with the quality management system.
- Develop new and adaptive design of test cases for system and product requirements.
- Report & verify the test defect logs captured during the testing phase of the assigned product.
- Partner with a variety of different product stakeholder groups, including management at different levels, business analysts and developer’s community.
- Technically responsible to ensure the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the several subsystems in modular, easy-to-maintain and extendible software that meets the product specification.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements
- Required bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering.
- 3-8 years of practical experience in Substation Automation.
- Should be technically sound in the field of protection and communication protocols used in substation.
- Should have knowledge on computer networks and OSI Layers.
- Should be proficient in programming languages such as Python/Java/C#.
- Should have effective communication skills needed to collaborate with team members.
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of different protocols in each OSI Layer is a plus.
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle especially the Agile development method is a plus.
