Network Engineer

About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Network Engineer to support network infrastructure deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and data center field activities across Mumbai. This role is ideal for someone with strong routing and switching fundamentals, data center exposure, and practical experience working with routers, switches, firewalls, cabling, rack and stack, documentation, and incident/change support. The Network Engineer will support network configuration, L2/L3 troubleshooting, structured cabling, hardware deployment, and operational documentation to ensure high availability and reliable network performance within data center and field environments. Key Responsibilities - Configure, deploy, and support network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls across multi-OEM environments. - Perform structured cabling activities, including fiber LC/SC/MPO and copper Cat6/Cat6A patching. - Execute rack and stack activities for network devices, servers, PDUs, and related data center infrastructure. - Troubleshoot L2/L3 network, hardware, physical connectivity, and performance issues. - Maintain accurate network diagrams, port mapping, rack details, CMDB/DCIM documentation, and activity records. - Support incident, change, and escalation processes while ensuring SLA adherence and timely resolution. - Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, facilities teams, service providers, and internal stakeholders for deployments and issue resolution. - Support capacity management, documentation updates, and operational readiness for data center environments. - Participate in maintenance windows, planned changes, emergency support, and critical cutovers as required. Required Qualifications - Diploma, BE, B.Tech, or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field. - 3–6 years of experience in network engineering and data center infrastructure support. - Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting network devices in production/data center environments. - Strong knowledge of routing and switching, L2/L3 networking, TCP/IP, VLANs, and subnetting. - Experience with rack and stack, structured cabling, fiber/copper patching, and physical data center operations. - Strong troubleshooting skills across both network and hardware layers. - Good communication, documentation, time management, and coordination skills. - Ability to work in multi-vendor environments and handle high-pressure operational scenarios. Preferred Certifications - CCNA certification is mandatory. - CCNP or equivalent hands-on experience is preferred. - Additional certifications in Firewall, Network Security, or SD-WAN would be an advantage. Travel Requirements This role may require travel within Mumbai between data centers, office locations, customer sites, or PoPs. Occasional domestic travel may also be required for deployments, audits, training, emergency support, or major cutovers. Travel may be required on short notice for critical incidents and will follow company policy with relevant allowances or reimbursements. Other Requirements - Ability to safely lift 20–25 kg when required. - Comfortable working in data center environments, shifts, and scheduled maintenance windows. Why Join Sycomp?
