Role overview
logcat.ai is the AI engineering layer for the operating‑system stack, building agentic systems for Linux and Android devices that ingest diagnostic artifacts (bugreports, logcat, dmesg, modem traces, ramdumps, perfetto, pcap, CAN) to help device makers diagnose, remediate, test, and author features across their OS stack. It’s a VC‑backed startup with a small senior team where you’ll work directly with the founders and own what you build.
Responsibilities
- Deepen kernel‑level diagnosis and remediation, the foundational cross‑substrate seat for the platform.
- Build ramdump and crash forensics: drgn, vmcoreinfo, ramdump parsing, post‑mortem analysis under customer deadlines.
- Reason across scheduler, memory management, and driver internals.
- Ground remediations in kernel source.
- Own the components you build, from design through delivery.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Deep Linux kernel internals.
- Crash and ramdump forensics, live and post‑mortem.
- Kernel tracing and profiling: ftrace, perf, eBPF.
- Driver and BSP experience.
- Strong C.
- Proficient in day‑to‑day work with CLI‑based AI coding tools like Claude Code (or an equivalent).
Nice to have
- Android kernel.
- ARM64 internals.
- Embedded / hardware bringup.
- drgn and crash tooling.
- Upstream contributions (patches accepted on LKML).
- Yocto distro bring‑up.
Benefits
- Top‑of‑market salary and founding equity.
- Comprehensive medical insurance for you and your family.
- AI tools for coding, reviewing, research, ops, and internal tooling.
- Early ownership and full visibility into roadmap, pipeline, and company performance.
- Start‑up perks and flexible time off, the kind people actually take.
- A small, collaborative team that enjoys solving hard problems.
Additional details
- Remote work with at least four hours of overlap with Pacific or IST time zones; no hour tracking.
- If you’re in Seattle or Bengaluru, occasional in‑person meetings are welcomed but not required.
- We recently raised a $2.55M pre‑seed round.
- The product is scaling and the customer list is growing.
- This seat opens later; we’re listing it now to attract early interest.
- What to expect after you apply: screening call with Head of People & Business Operations, technical conversation with Co‑founder/CEO, technical exercise with Co‑founder/Head of Engineering, final conversation with Co‑founder/CEO, references, then offer.
- In your application, tell us what you’d own here, and the hardest thing you’ve shipped in this domain.
