Role overview
Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts, who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology, including product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification. The IDC collaborates with Hitachi Energy’s global R&D and Research centers across 15+ locations in 12 countries. Over the past 20 years, IDC has secured 200+ international papers and 150+ patents. The R&D Center in Chennai focuses on developing innovative technologies in HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) as part of the global R&D organization, working on areas such as semiconductors, converter design, main circuit design, converter control strategies, and power system studies. The center collaborates closely with R&D teams in Sweden and Switzerland and is co-located with HVDC & FACTS project engineering groups, offering unique opportunities to engage with customer and market needs.

Requirements
- PHD in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Electronics (or) M.TECH/M.E
- 4-5 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge on converter design, control, and modulation
- Knowledge of HVDC, FACTS & Power Semiconductors devices
- Proficiency in simulation tools like PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail, multi-tasking, and ability to prioritize effectively in a demanding environment
- Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
