Role overview
The role is for an IT Application Engineer who will partner with the HR team to build a secure, scalable backbone for Netskope’s growth. The engineer will serve as the technical steward of the enterprise HR systems, owning IT security, disaster recovery, backend architecture, and integrations for Workday while ensuring compliance with governance, security standards, and data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical IT lead for the Workday ecosystem, including integration design, testing, and troubleshooting
- Lead bi-annual releases by analyzing What’s New reports, executing regression testing, and identifying optimization opportunities
- Develop robust integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, DT/XSLT, Core Connectors, BIRT Templates, and Orchestrate
- Architect cross-platform workflows using iPaaS solutions such as Workato
- Implement secure data exchange solutions using REST/SOAP APIs
- Collaborate with IT Security to manage SSO/SAML configurations and SCIM provisioning (Okta) for automated hire-to-retire access
- Enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Segregation of Duties (SoD) for security architecture
- Conduct system audits to ensure adherence to SOX, SOC2, GDPR, CCPA, and internal IT General Controls (ITGC)
- Act as Tier 2/3 escalation point for complex system issues and integration failures
- Resolve data discrepancies between HRIS and downstream systems (ERP, ITSM, Active Directory, third-party applications)
- Translate complex technical constraints into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Enterprise Systems Engineering or HRIS Administration
- Deep technical knowledge of Workday integrations, security, and reporting
- Proven experience with Workday Studio, EIB, and Workday connector
- Proficiency in WQL/SQL and experience using REST/SOAP APIs for data extraction and manipulation
- Good understanding of PGP encryption/decryption concepts and SFTP
- Familiarity with Okta lifecycle management, SSO, SAML, and SCIM provisioning
- Experience in a public company or highly regulated environment with familiarity of SOX/ITGC audits
- Strong communication skills to explain API errors without jargon
- Strong problem‑solving ability for root‑cause analysis of synchronization failures
- Fluent in English
- BSCS or equivalent required; MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred
Nice to have
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript) for automation
- Active Workday Pro or Partner certification in Integrations, Studio, and/or Core HCM
