Role overview

The role is part of Hitachi Energy’s Secondary Engineering team, supporting project and lead engineers to develop and deliver detailed engineering documents and drawings for high‑voltage (>66 kV) products such as dead‑tank circuit breakers. The individual contributor will work collaboratively across multiple functions and departments, ensuring technical specifications are met, customer queries are addressed, and documentation is maintained to quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support project engineers / Project Lead engineers to develop project‑specific engineering documents and drawings for submission to customers and manufacturing of Dead Tank circuit breaker (>66 kV).
  • Deliver tasks as an individual contributor and coordinate with other colleagues, exhibiting good collaborative skills to complete the task.
  • Interact with other departments such as primary engineering, order management, power system study team, steel structure engineering, project management, and production units.
  • Prepare electrical schematic diagrams in CAD tools like E3, AutoCAD, or any other CAD/intelligent tools with the general arrangement of control cubical of 2D/3D high voltage breakers, capacitor banks, disconnectors, battery energy storage systems, and other HVC related products (>66 kV).
  • Review SLD, protection, and trip logics of customer/stakeholders.
  • Generate Bill of Materials (BoM) of modules and products and create part numbers using SAP.
  • Coordinate and review schematic diagrams and 2D/3D drawings before submitting them to customers.
  • Prepare guaranteed technical parameters for various high voltage equipment.
  • Address technical queries raised by customers during project execution, when required.
  • Support various cross‑functions like SCM, project management, and quality for understanding customer requirements and specifications, when required.
  • Support onsite installation and commissioning colleagues by providing technical support and understanding customer drawings.
  • Coordinate with customers, resolve queries, and ensure engineering drawings are approved on time.
  • Directly maintain and update the documentation for respective projects as per quality process.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with a bachelor’s or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience with tools such as E3, AutoCAD, or similar CAD/intelligent tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical interest, enthusiasm, creativity, and ability to apply a long‑term perspective to work.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and appreciate the importance of investing in long‑term customer relations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with United States/North American design standards / IEEE.
